Formats: e-book vs print
What formats do you offer?
Every Glass Spine Press title comes in two formats. The e-book is a digital file delivered to your inbox after purchase, readable on an e-reader, tablet, phone, or computer. The print edition is a physical book made to order through our print partner, Lulu Direct, and shipped to your door.
What's the difference between them?
E-books are instant, so there is nothing to wait for. Print editions take time to produce and ship, but you get a physical object to hold, annotate, and shelve. The content is identical in both.
Can I buy both formats?
Yes. Add each format to your cart separately. There is no bundle discount, but you will have a copy for the shelf and one for the road.
Print editions and production
How are print editions produced?
Print books are produced on demand by Lulu Direct. Each copy is printed specifically for your order rather than pulled from warehouse stock, and production usually begins within 1 to 3 business days of ordering.
What does print-on-demand mean for quality?
Books are produced to professional trade standards: clean text, consistent binding, and quality paper stock. Because each copy is printed individually, very minor variation between copies is normal and is not a defect.
Shipping
Where do you ship print editions?
We ship internationally. Our primary supported destinations are Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. If your country is not listed, shipping may still be available, so enter your address at checkout to confirm. If we cannot fulfil to your location, we will let you know as soon as possible.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery has two stages, production and shipping:
- Production: 1 to 3 business days
- Shipping within Australia: roughly 5 to 10 business days after production
- Shipping to Canada, New Zealand, the UK, and the US: roughly 7 to 21 business days after production, depending on destination and carrier
These are estimates only and are not guaranteed. Delays can happen due to production demand, carrier disruption, customs processing, or other factors outside our control. Timeframes shown at checkout are indicative.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping for print editions is calculated at checkout based on your delivery address and the items in your order.
What if I entered the wrong delivery address?
Please double-check your address before completing your order, since you are responsible for providing accurate shipping details. We cannot take responsibility for orders delayed, lost, or misdelivered because of an incorrect address. If you spot a mistake straight away, contact us and we will try to catch it before production starts.
Digital delivery
How do I receive my e-book?
Once your payment is confirmed, download access is sent to the email address you entered at checkout. If it has not arrived within a few minutes, check your spam or junk folder.
What file format is the e-book?
File formats vary by title. The available format or formats are listed on each product page before you buy.
I can't find my download link. What now?
Check your spam or junk folder first. If it is still missing, contact us with your order number and the email address you used at checkout and we will sort it out.
Refunds and returns
Can I return a print edition?
Because print editions are produced on demand for each order, we cannot accept change-of-mind returns. If your book arrives damaged or defective, or does not arrive within a reasonable timeframe, contact us with your order number, a description of the problem, and photos of the item and packaging where relevant. We will work with you to make it right.
Can I get a refund on an e-book?
Digital files are delivered immediately and cannot be returned, so we generally cannot refund e-book purchases once the download has been accessed. If there is an error or a technical problem with your file, contact us and we will help.
Payment
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept major credit and debit cards including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, along with the other options shown at checkout such as Shop Pay. The full list appears on the checkout page.
Why was my card declined?
Banks sometimes flag online purchases as a precaution, especially international ones. A decline is almost always a decision made by your bank rather than a problem with our store, so checking with your bank or card provider is the fastest fix. Trying a different card or payment method often works too.
Is checkout secure?
Yes. Our store runs on Shopify, which uses industry-standard SSL encryption to protect your payment details. We never store your card information.
